
JUST IN: Peter Obi defeats Atiku Abubakar and Bola Tinubu in Edo as INEC continues to collate results
In Edo state, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 election, defeated Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, the collation officer for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Edo State, announced on Tuesday morning that Obi received 331,163 votes to win the state, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, received 144,471.
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) finished third with 89,585.
According to Ndaeyo, 603, 894 voters were accredited out of the 2,501,081 who registered to vote, legal votes totaled 581,266, rejected votes totaled 19,129, and votes cast totaled 600,395.
The 12 LGs won by Obi are Igueben, Esan Central, Esan North-East, Egor, Esan South-East, Esan West, Uhunmwonde, Orhionmwon, Ovia South-West, Oredo, Ikpoba-Okha and Ovia North-East, while APC won in six LGAs of Owan West, Owan East, Akoko-Edo, Etsako Central, Etsako West and Etsako East.
